Eef, the owner, came to the US on a work assignment in 1999. After being here for 3 month she started missing the food from back home, but couldn't find it anywhere. So, she set out to sell it herself, figuring more Dutch people would want access to it. She started selling Dutch groceries from her basement in Fort Collins, while still doing her regular job. She did that for two years, until in 2003 she decided to quit her job and open up a shop in Denver called Dubbel Dutch.
As she couldn't find good sandwiches either, she decided to start selling those as well. She found a great bakery who makes French baguettes, took menus back from back home, and put together super tasty, unique, sandwiches and salads. Also, she received a coffee maker from Douwe Egberts, the premier coffee guys in the Netherlands, and can serve strong lattes and moccinos, een lekker bakkie koffie :)
Dubbel Dutch opened its doors on November 8 2003, and has been the hub for Dutchies, and a NW Denver staple ever since.
